USMLE Step 3 is the final exam in the USMLE series of examination. USMLE Step 3 is bit different than USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2. Whereas USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2 is based on Basic Science, Clinical Science and Clinical Knowledge, USMLE Step 3 forms on the application of Clinical Science and Clinical Knowledge. It is a practical and final exam of USMLE sequence that leads students to be a licensed practitioner. Step 3, is a final assessment of physicians holds the independent responsibility to deliver the medical care.
USMLE Step 3 Registration
For registration or application process, you need to fill the USMLE step 3 application form through the Federation of State Medical Board (FSMB). USMLE Step 3 is taken only in the USA. Before registration, you need to meet certain eligibility criteria. Take a look below
USMLE Step 3 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates appear in USMLE step 3; must meet certain eligibility criteria before USMLE step 3 log in such as;
1. Candidates have to clear USMLE step 1, step 2 CK, step 2 CS
2. Candidates should have the degree equivalent to the US and Canadian MD degree from the medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Science.
3. Candidates who do hold Fifth Pathway certificates that are not accepted by the USMLE 2017 Program need ECFMG certification.
USMLE Step 3 scheduling
After processing the registration by FSMB, examinees receive a permit of schedule that includes the process to make an appointment at Prometric test center. Individual candidates of USMLE Step 3 exam need to schedule/fix up the exam up to six months in the exam. It is always recommended to give the response to Prometric at the early basis.
USMLE Step 3 Score report/ USMLE Step 3 Passing Score
Though USMLE Step 3 does not have any specific test score; however, the qualifying marks is 196.This is the qualifying marks on previous USMLE test such as USMLE test 1 and USMLE test 2.
USMLE Step 3 exam pattern
USMLE Step 3 is a two-day exam which is divided between FIP (Foundations of Independent Practice) and ACM (Advanced Clinical Medicine).FIP has 200 multiple choice questions and its duration is 7 hours. In ACM, candidates need to answer 180 multiple choice question with 9 hours.
